Is there a more misunderstood and slandered regime on this planet? Democratic Kampuchea was a communist state in the sense that it had reached the higher stage of communism as soon as Pol Pot came to power in 1975. In a largely agrarian society, the tiny urban population was corrupted from without and a parasite on the Kampuchean peasant. During a time of war and taking this into account is it really a surprise that the urbanites were evacuated from the cities and forced to work the land along with the old people? Is it really a surprise that these new people, unknowledgable about farming, were treated harsher? Subversive ethnic minorities like the Vietnamese in Kampuchea were targeted for obvious reasons. We must not forget hegemonic designs of the Vietnamese State towards Kampuchea which strove to amalgamate Laos and Kampuchea into a Vietnamese dominated Indochina Federation. The Black Book clearly lays out all of these in advance and yet we Pol Pot-ists are slandered and chased off the board. Who toppled Pol Pot but the Vietnamese aggressors themselves?
On the achievements of DK, know socialist state in history came further. This is a reason for the invective thrown at DK. Lesser, degenerated workers states are of good use for “debunking” socialism in the eyes of the bourgeoisie for their obvious shortcomings. With the DK’s reaching of full communism in such a short amount of time and, might I add, single-handledly by the Kampuchean people, the bourgeoisie and hegemonic regional powers rushed to slander the miracle of Asia. DK abolished religion, dismantled the means of production, finally ended the antithesis between town and country, abolished money and abolished ALL classes and moved into the higher stage of communism.
