Here's what happens.
You grow up hating yourself and lying to everyone around you, and then suddenly you come out of the closet and you're free from that shit. So, like anybody who suddenly loses a burden, they go WAY overboard with the faggotry. Think of it like a spring under a heavy load, or the zeal of a fresh convert, or a dam breaking.
It doesn't LAST though. Very few LGBT folks actually continue giving a shit about Pride after the first year or two, and they move on to more meaningful things. What you hate is "fresh from the closet" gay culture. Actual gay culture is way better than that shit.

I'm bisexual. I also grew up in a Catholic family in Texas. I never felt the need to do that kind of bullshit. I've known plenty of gay dudes (including married, or might-as-well-be-married, couples in their 40s), a couple bisexuals, a lesbian or two, and even a trans person over the years. Some of them went to Pride, but I never cared to. There were a couple weirdos, and some people who really fit the stereotypes to a tee, but also plenty of regular folks who happen to have that one difference about them. The point is, it's just not something that's that important, and I don't see this sort of thing doing anyone any favors. It doesn't help the image.
But, yeah, I pretty much get what you mean. I still don't like it.

Although, to be fair, no one in my immediate family was ever really devout, the immediate family has voted straight Democrat for generations, and I wasn't the first person in the family to fall under the category of LGBT. My family put up much more of a fuss when I told them I was an atheist, but then, I was also a cringey asshole about it back then.
