Mikhail Gorbachev

Does anybody in leftypol has anything positive to say about Gorbachev? He is often blamed for the collapse of the USSR, and is accused of being a capitalist. Thoughts?

Okay well obviously he was a capitalist, I mean look at the thumbnail.

I read that boris yeltsin refused Gorby pension, so poor Gorbachev appeared in the commercial for money.

Gorbachev rose to the leadership of the USSR mainly because of him effectivly being seen as a student of Andropov whose reforms had shown some decent promise to improving the soviet economy and ending the era of stagnation and also because of him being seen as a young face (Compared to the average age of the Politburo) who would not drop dead after a year being in power

The main way that he gained support to be declared leader of the USSR was to make out that he simply wished to continue Andropovs Reforms Andropovs Reforms essentially being Kadarism but less open to further Liberalisation and more Anti-Corruption/Work-Absentee measure
But as we all know he actually went on a much different course instead choosing to attempt to reform the USSR's Political and economic model into a Scandinavian "SocialDemocracy"

For the first few years in power Gorbs payed Lip service to Socialism and preserving Marxism-Leninism but by the time he began calling for programs like the Economic Acceleration / 500 days plan / Perestroika / Glasnost / Changing union treaty
He began to face more and more opposition from the members of the Politburo and goverment who objected to these moves that would eventually cause the Union to implode
At the same time he faced criticism from people like Yeltsin and the regional leaders of The Balts Georgia Moldova etc for "His Reforms not going far enough" AKA dissolving the union

Eventually he needed to begin creating new goverment organs with Arbitrary powers to force his reform packages through
"Economic Commisions" that overulled GOSPLAN and acted a rubber stamping system for his policy was created
The post of President of the USSR was created which had sweeping powers and which he immediately filled

Great man with great ideas but too weak. Its sad that the only way for Soviet Union to survive is with a iron fist.

You're saying that as if someone forced him out of his position and stopped his reforms.

I want to think he was in his heart well-intentioned, but I even doubt this now. Gorbachev truly was a fuck and should've been shot.

Not a revisionist
Also Tito couldn't even be considered. A revision of M-L Since he wasn't M-L to start with

Well because of him we have many things… like opportunity, freedom and most importantly, pizza hut!

I thought the Pizza Hut advert was pretty funny (i like dark humour) but that's about it. Maybe he is still the leader of the USSR and this is all a grand gommunist strategy to elect Comrade Drumpf.

Don't you have some more doctors and scientists to go shoot, you Pol Potist?

Him Making retarded Political Moves (S-S split / Corn in Siberia / Peaceful Coexistence etc) didnt stop the fundamental economic nature of the USSR from being Socialist and it didnt change its Political system in a fundamental way

Shitty ideas need to be enforced with violence. Good ideas come naturally.

Gorbachev DID force his ideas by going around the Legislature and creating government posts and Organs with Arbitrary powers subservient to him

Tankies won't allow it. I can see it now.

It is though.

If you like eating cardboard.

Comrades, let us be reasonable and say that they are better for different types of pizza.
Deep dish is best for a nice meaty pizza.
Thin crust is better for something with more vegetable toppings.
Stuffed crust is nice for a multi-cheese pizza.

Gorby was a symptom of the rot of the USSR in the 80s

I don't know what type of crust Dominos has, but that pizza is the NS of pizzas. Dominos will unite a nation, either through hatred or through love of it.

Thin crust is more authentic.
Chicago style pizza casserole is working class all the way though.

I live in Texas but there's this enormous fat guy from New Jersey who is extremely gabagool who opened up a pizza place down the street. He calls it Jersey-style pizza and I'm not exactly sure what that means, but it's thin crust stuff and the way to order it is just cheese.

Just cheese.

I tend to dump a lot of hot sauce on it and eat it that way. But it's pretty damn tasty. Best pizza in town.

I wouldnt really call Gorbs a System of "Rot" of the USSR as he only even came to power by basically just lying to the Politburo about his intentions and only Maintained it by Going against and overriding soviet institutions

Do anyone have a link to the video about the girl from the future, where they edited pictures and clips from the 90s russia in when talking about the future.

Based on this i think: youtube.com/watch?v=QNH99xAWXBo

The film is called the girl from the future

This one?

Well thats not wrong

Absolute CHAOS

he couldn't have carried out his policies if a significant section of the party weren't with him

i'm the ☭TANKIE☭

Same, ironically

I never claimed Khrushchev done away with socialism, only that he was revisionist. If we don't count the 23 second long reign of Malenkov, Khrushchev was undoubtedly the first revisionist leader of the USSR.

AKA the USSR was dismantled by its corrupt leadership with support from the West.

I honestly blame his as a symptom of Brezhnev’s refusal to retire. Brezhnev basically going senile in his final years as leader of the USSR and refusal to step down made a succession crisis because the two men who had hope to reform the USSR without turning it lib died one year after each other.

Nothing. Even as an anarchist, much as I hate some of the shit tier stuff the USSR did, watching it fall due to this knob-end was a fucking shame.

I will dance in circles when this fuckwit carks it.

Gorbachev is the total inversion of Lenin
Lenin is still admired and loved by folks the world over except for liberals and those who have been confused by liberal propaganda, even anarchists
Gorbachev is reviled and hated by folks the world over except for liberals and those who have been confused by liberal propaganda, even anarchists

Shed a tear and saved, but I doubt I'll ever be able to watch it again.

Basically if Gorbs never came to power and / or Andropov had lived longer we would have seen a USSR with Kadarism / Cuban model at best and literally dengism with Russian characteristics at worst but we would not have seen the complete collapse of the Union and of the Warsaw pact

He was good natured, that is all. My friend studied Russian history and was like "Gorbachev was the biggest fucking retard in history"

Fuck no, he wasn't
