Tbh the good thing about D.SA is that their praxis means that being a member is not mutually exclusive with supporting communist parties like the PSL or SAlt, etc. All they do is work to mobilize votes for particular candidates of their choosing, so a local chapter could well prove instrumental in getting an oppenly leftist candidate into local office. Tbh there’s no reason not to join them, since they allow for a wide range of politics under their banner, have some name recognition (everybody else are literally who as far as the average prole is concerned) and have many genuine communists in their ranks. If there’s any group with the right combination of political disposition and relevance to make entryism viable, then it’s D.SA.
You'll need some retired senior gov't staff just to make a list of the measures preventing this type of ideology from ever catching up again in the US. Then you can start working your way around, but that's not what a group of workers or young people can ever hope to accomplish by themselves. I believe the level of protection given to the system can only be understood and worked around if you get help from inside.
To be honest with myself I have no idea what the correct strategy or path is – and I have a feeling that a lot of leftists don't either and there is a lot of posturing and self-aggrandizement about proper theory going on. Now, there are a lot of Marxists out there who are way smarter than me and do know a lot about strategy and theory.
But in any case my attitude is that the clock is ticking and you only have one life, so I'll just join and find ways to contribute, and shut my mouth and listen to the more experienced people. And regarding other orgs, as long as they don't engage in inordinate amounts of squabbling with other left groups then I'll support them. The only groups that I have a problem with are the ones that only seem to pick fights with other leftists. There are a handful of groups like that and I am deeply suspicious of them.

The idea that all we need is the right name, or the right motto or a cool looking flag is pretty silly. There are dozens of leftist political organizations in the United States and almost all of them are completely irrelevant.
Before any party has a chance of succeeding in the United States class counciousness needs to exist.
