I hate survivors because all pity corrupts, and self-pity corrupts absolutely they smoke they talk the talk talk talk talk talk… the one thing they never recover from is their recovery they live in the past they shit on love by calling it co-dependence they have no sense of humor they haven’t changed a bit they’re still full of themselves surviving isn’t really living they’re all the same they stink of Christianity they yak about “letting go” but they never let go of letting go masochism is no excuse for sadism I don’t acknowledge the moral superiority of losers they read us their hospital charts and call it poetry they tell their troubles to everybody except who’s to blame for them they’re in denial the 12-step shuffle is addiction minus the pleasure their humility is so arrogant we’re all survivors but it’s tasteless to make a hobby or a career out of it when all is said and done, aren’t we all the adult children of parents?
this really isn't the place for this. also fuck you for mixing your shitty attitude with Nietzsche and Vaneigem. I sure wish you weren't

Survivors of what? Your thread?
Aaron Johnson
Take off that flag. Now.
Aaron Sanders
Clearly you have not done "organizing" in "offline spaces" if you don't understand what this essay is a response to. People who actually have to deal with SJWs are all survivors of survivors.
Eat a shotgun shell you fucking edgy tumblr shit kid.
though it might just be the built up antipathy from spending too long on tumblr
Evan Parker
exactly, there will be no "professional survivors" in our socialist utopia.
Say it a bit louder for the tumblr kids in the back: emotional labor is not labor
Hunter Jackson
What is 'emotional labor'
Chase Perez
Why don't you tell us your experience instead of posting weird post-left pseudo-poetry?
Carson Morgan
lmao they actually filtered bаboon? What is this world coming to. Do they at least have a flag for it?
Anthony Murphy
I don't fucking know but people use that phrase all the time on Tumblr and "lefty" Twitter to describe stuff like waitresses saying "please and thank you" (I think)
Out of all the posters in this thread I'm probably the most sympathetic to your ideas but you're being cryptic and weird. Really,it depends what kind of "emotional labour" you're referring to, but the original usage of the word before it was appropriated by #woke liberals and other assorted types it did refer to a concrete phenomenon whereby individuals in workplaces were often expected to take on additional roles outside of their job descriptors that were usually gendered and could be considered a form of intellectual labour. However this bullshit where you have to thank someone for making Social Media posts is inane and toxic nonsense. Would you mind elucidating your opinions in a more comprehensive manner?
Nolan Carter
in the same way that Bob Black dunking on "survivors" was not him saying "all victims are bad people" or "rapists are cool" – yes, this phenomena of performative #woke liberals expecting ass-kicking or donations for pretending to be sweet is also a huge bellyache
I am being cryptic and weird , secretly missing the old alt.slack days , also kind of pissed at the first wave of responses to this thread
Jaxon Smith
It's part of the job of waitress and so it's labor in a way, not manual labor but still.

Then refuse the job if it's that painful to follow a script
no one said you have to believe the script is true
Leo Ross
tumblr really isn't a very good guide for left theory. It's mostly full of bitter faggots licking their wounds in a comfortable little cabal of yes men people. They aren't interested in the proletariat or revolution, just sharing shitty memes to make themselves feel better that the people in their favorite shows don't suck dick or aren't the right color or whatever.

To do what? Being unemployed? Are you aware a lot of waitress don't really have "the choice", they do that because they can't find something better or to get money for college. By your logic I could say manual workers should refuse the job if they think the working conditions are too hard or not getting paid enough.
They don't believe in the script, the script is part of the job.
Joseph Wood
why are you pretending like people don't have a choice between working a shitty job and not working a shitty job?
do you know anything about the history of the labor movement?
Given that this is a BOB BLACK thread, you should read his ABOLITION OF WORK where the primary thesis is EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE of your notion that the working class "do not really have the choice."
Yes, manual workers SHOULD refuse the job if they think they are not getting paid enough. Jesus Christ. Are you aware that youre on Zig Forums ? complacency is the only reason we are where we are today.

Because 'work or starve' isn't a choice you dipshit
James Peterson
Yes that is exactly what porky wants you to think.
Welcome to Zig Forums "dipshit."

Bob Black is a cop.
Cooper Hill
Jesus Christ, bo bumplocked my thread.
Zig Forums was right, you really are a bunch of retarded teenage liberals.
larp larp larp larp. Porky loves you. This is almost as bad as "lefty" twitter
Camden Moore
Because we live in capitalism and people need money to pay rent, bills, food, etc. so they have to sell their workforce to the bourgeoisie for a wage?
Do you? At what moment shitting on waitress improved the labor movement?
I did actually read ABOLITION OF WORK but then I've read Marx, did you read Marx?
They should refuse but they can't refuse.

Are you the same "anarchist" who told me to take off my flag earlier in the thread?
Psst, snitchjacketing people because their views are anti-SJW is exactly what SJW cops do. Bob Black is no snitch and there's no proof of it. You're doing cop work by calling radicals cops.
Do some fucking research, Jesus Christ, you probably haven't even read Bob Black. He is a hardcore anarchist. basically the opposite of a cop. Did you know that anarchists and cops are on different ends of the spectrum? idiot.
These are the spooks talking. This is a mental prison built by porky. The door will remain shut as long as you "pull" on a "push" door. The aim of philosophy is to show the fly OUT of the fly-bottle.
To quote the Situationists …
And to quote again: Oink oink oink . Be a wagecuck if you want. Just don't say that everyone else has to be a slave like you are.
Do you actually believe this? Was it because a landlord and grocer told you so? I will assume you are American.
There are 18,600,000 vacant homes in America.
Use a little creativity or you can continue living like a slave. Just don't blame your slavery on society or your boss. No one will give you freedom, you must demand it.
The masters of society grab, steal, and take on a grand scale all the time. If you don't grab, steal, and take like they do, you will live like the slaves they rule over. Again: the only limits are yourself. Property is theft, every bourgeoisie is a bastard, and only direct action gets the goods.
Anthony Brooks
It's not because you're personnally able to refuse that everybody can refuse too. So if you personnally don't work, where does your money comes from?
Do you squat and shoplift to live?
Kayden Ramirez
"squat" and "shoplift" are bourgeoisie words. Your tiny brain is infected with porky's ghosts.
Do you consider radical socialist armies to be gangs of murderers and thieves? Because isn't that what an army does – killing and taking?
You ARE able to refuse, but for one reason or another, you SETTLE.
"Where does your money come from?" ????? I don't understand this question.
Colton Parker
"Mao was a cool guy and all but he was kind of hard on landlords." "Lenin was a cool guy and all but he was kind of hard on kulaks."
Do you personally pay rent, bills, food, etc? If yes where does your money comes from? If not, how do you live exactly? Tell us more about your capitalism-free lifestyle.
Also I will stop to sage because I've just saw the bumplock.
Owen Brooks
Actually what
asked, how do you actually live. You are some American from what I gather from here and Zig Forums so how do you actually live out your days?
Elijah Gonzalez
i sees something nice, i takes it.
"Theft" is if I were to break into a working class man's home and take his things he worked to earn. "Theft" is if I were to put a gun against a working class man's head and demand from him his wallet or nice new shoes. "Theft" is also when a boss forces a man or woman to exploit themselves for garbage pay. "Theft" is also when a landlord takes half the worker's paycheck – or more – and kicks them out when they miss a week of work. And "theft" too is interest on loans, credit card payments, etc.
Look at Walmart – $500,000,000,000 in revenue 2018. No matter how many trinkets I carry out, their revenue is barely touched. To exploit the exploiters is no crime, and of course I understand that opens the door to myself being exploited –
I can hitchhike, why would I buy a car? I can freight hop, why would I buy a train ticket? I can find food, I can grow food, why would I eat at McDonald's?
Hell, even if I didn't squat, I've slept on the streets, I've lived in the woods. I'm tough. I do not need a large, nicely furnished home. Having a crash pad is a luxury but not a necessity.
with a cantenna and aircrack-ng I can get wifi almost any time and anywhere I want with the caveat I am somewhat near a city. The notion that this wifi is being stolen is one originating in the ISPs.
Spanging – perhaps it's a bit lumpenproletariat – yet it's never, ever bourgeoisie.
Daniel Hall
Here is a test :
when you look at the painting, 1. who do you see as being the parasite? 2. Who is the strong man? The hero?
Who is the conqueror: - the man who conquers others - the man who has conquered himself ?
Of course I know Alexander the Great and Diogenes. Alexander is the parasite. Diogenes is the stong man, the hero. The conqueror is the man that has conquered himself.
I got you but do you seriously compare yourself to Diogenes and dare to call other people larpers?
Brandon Morales
I figure (me) I'll engage briefly while you and the thread are still here. I don't really remember who you are. Aren't you that folding bike/backpacker hobo user? If so, I remember your thread when I first came here (maybe 2 years ago or so) and thought you were an OK guy. I didn't know your post was Black, someone I don't have a problem with although I think he is being edgy here. I personally don't have a problem with post-leftism either, even though I think Zig Forums on the whole does.
Kevin Diaz
projecting there, laddie back to your shithole >>>Zig Forums you go
Thanks to the new left the majority of the working class are permanently against socialism which they equate with such catch phrases as "all white people are racist" "A basket of irredeemable deplorables" , "Check your privilege scum" , and other hits …
They have set back the work of raising class consciousness by a generation or two since these people have completed their education and are unlikely to ever be exposed to evidence that will portray socialism in a positive light , and they have retreated into pro-right wing echo chambers like Zig Forums and watching fox news.
Ian Watson
You should format your threads (and make your points) better so they aren't anchored as quickly and they don't look like pure edge, but I largely agree with you. The ideology of being a "survivor" is the transformation of one's personal misery into political ideology, making not only a virtue of necessity but making the necessity of suffering into the supreme virtue. Such miserablism doesn't question its own presumptions about its "unique" suffering and its self-justifying formula in response to questioning is mere tautology (e.g. "rape is rape," "I know that's what it is because I know," etc.), anti-left to the core.
I'm not a post-leftist, but at the same time I don't think the left should shelter these miserable people. There's a type of suffering that would lead to revolution, a type of suffering that creates the impetus for change, but the miserables wish to suffer and continue suffering because it provides a certain comforting sense of "authenticity" as a kind of hypostasis of their belief systems. They would in the end prefer to lose everything except their chains of misery.
