The entirety of the Scandinavian model is a meme, especially Sweden, which has had Neoliberal bullshit since the 80's just like Reagan & Thatcherism, I mean fuck their PM was literallly assassinated because he passed a law which essentially gradually gave ownership of firms to workers incrementally. After that the "Democratic Socialist" paradise of Sweden basically just turned into the same shit everywhere else and all the SocDems turned into Blairites. On top of that Sweden had a financial crash in the 90s so they've had 2 massive waves of instability along with 2008, leading to even more austerity politics and free market cancer. That entire country is fucked, but just because they have some remnants of a "Social Safety Net" it's seen as a paradise by naive liberals.

You realise that that's $20 in Swedish Currency right? It's not equivalent to earning $20 in America because of the relative cost of living. People in Australia also earn $20 in entry level min wage jobs but you don't hear the same narrative there. If you want to know more about Sweden there's a couple of guys who do a Communist podcast called En Forlorad Saak (A Lost Cause), some of their episodes are in English, but I actually think that one of the guys was recently on ZeroBooks, and they talk about some of the political & economic climate in Sweden.
Idk but as far as Nordic welfare goes, i think the one out of the big 3 that's retained the most of its welfare state is Denmark. If you include Iceland and/or Finnland then I believe that title goes to iceland

Yeah but there's no official minimum wage in Sweden, it's actually nowhere near $20 USD, the average McDonalds worker gets paid around $13, so after Tax and whatever other expenses that's still well over 50% of your income on rent. The average cost of an apartment also doesn't really tell us much, in the same way that the average wage as opposed to minimum wage wouldn't either, geography relative to employment opportunities matters a lot.

Idk anything about that, nor do I care, most of the refugees historically in Sweden as I understand it have been from Central & South America in the 70's & 80's, then in the 90's from former Yugoslav countries, by which point Sweden had already started economically & socially deteriorating, so that kind of flies in the face of the new narrative about middle easterners or whatever, considering that's only happened in the past few years. I think the rape thing has something to do with the country prosecuting spousal rape as seperate incidents.

Well I'm not Scandy so I don't know too much but as I understand it it's more or less that the country is more insulated from the EU neoliberal shit, has an incredibly high set of indexes for GDP, PPP, GINI etc. and an incredibly small population so in conjunction with the way taht they handled the fallout from the 2008 crisis they've temporarily managed to maintain Social Democracy to a greater degree than the post-war period
