I don't think Denzel is /ourguy/ but he does seem to have a relatively intuitive understanding of certain concepts and ideas that would make him a fellow traveller, IIRC he's stated that he isn't a Communist/Anarchist both directly in Lyrics and Interviews but also that he's not really Educated on these things. I think he's a pretty introspective guy who grew up around a lot of Poverty and that points you in a direction to at least some Socialist Ideas even if you can't articulate them that way. I'd imagine him being Black in the US also might have something to do with it. Someone should send him some theory or something.
