Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters Friday that, come 12 a.m. ET Monday, the economic penalties leveled on the Iranian regime will return to levels unseen since the U.S. negotiated the 2015 multilateral nuclear deal.

Spain prosecutor seeks long jail terms for Catalan pro-independence leaders
Spain’s public prosecutor on Friday sought jail terms of up to 25 years on rebellion charges for nine leaders of Catalonia’s independence movement over an illegal secession bid they spearheaded last year. The recommendation drew an angry response from the region’s leader, who also dismissed moves by the State Attorney - a separate, government-appointed body prosecuting in the case - to push for the lesser charge of sedition.

Australian Labor Party leader outlines militarist foreign policy
Labor Party leader Bill Shorten used a speech on Monday at the Lowy Institute, a corporate think tank, to outline an aggressive foreign policy aimed at expanding Australian imperialism’s influence in the Indo-Pacific region. With a federal election due to be held before May, the address was a clear signal to the Australian military-intelligence apparatus, and to Washington, that a Labor government would intensify Australia’s alignment with US-led preparations for conflict with China, while extending Australia’s own predatory operations in the region.

Pretty dank ngl, I might go if there are Olympics in NK.

Arguably the worst regime on the planet;
Obama: here, have pallets full of money as a parting gift.
Trump: sanctions will be re-imposed.

I don't see the problem, only common sense.

FUCKING LABOUR NEEDS TO GO

BILL SHORTEN CAN GO SUCK A SHORTENED BILL

Enjoy your ban imperialist

O/t, but sounds like corbyn…

Lol, for what?

Obama did not "give the Iranians pallets of money"
He just unfroze Iranian goverment assets that were trapped overseas since 79
And if you genuinely want sanctions (a tool of regime change) to be implemented against Iran you are literally arguing for Imperialism

Trump Finds Support After the Pittsburgh Massacre, From the Israeli Government
When President Trump arrived Tuesday at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh to pay his respects to the 11 victims of a mass shooting three days earlier, the only public official standing there to greet him was Israel’s ambassador to the United States, Ron Dermer. The symbolism was stark, and it didn’t end there. A few hours later, another prominent Israeli official, Naftali Bennett, took to Twitter to defend Mr. Trump from critics, including some in the American Jewish community, who said the president’s divisive, inflammatory language sowed the seeds for the deadliest anti-Semitic attack in the United States in recent memory…

Denouncing immigration as “an invasion,” Trump said he was planning on announcing the new measures in an executive order at the beginning of next week.Hours before he was greeted at a Missouri campaign rally with raucous cheers of “USA! USA!” and “Build that wall,” Trump outlined his vision of massive concentration camps and border showdowns between armed soldiers and defenseless asylum seekers.

Almost 1 in 5 Germans is ‘at risk of poverty’ despite record employment
Germany may be Europe’s biggest and strongest economy and is enjoying record employment, but one fifth of its citizens are struggling to make ends meet, a new study reveals.
Some 15.5 million people or 19 percent of the population in Germany were “at risk of poverty” or “social exclusion” in 2017, the Federal Statistics Office said.Even though the unemployment rate in Germany has fallen to record lows, many people still do not earn enough to pay their bills and keep themselves above the poverty line. Some 13.1 million Germans, roughly 16.1 percent of the population, are threatened by poverty precisely because of their low monthly income, the federal statistics bureau says.. ..

Amazon Raises Minimum Pay for Everyone—Except These Workers
After finishing up his day job at a charter school, Sherwin Karunungan heads to a nondescript warehouse in San Francisco that serves as a shipment hub for Amazon.com Inc. In a windowless breakroom, Karunungan presses a single button on his phone, over and over, to request a gig through Amazon Flex. The program lets anyone sign up to shuttle packages for the world’s largest online store using their own cars and get paid by the delivery. But first, they need to score some actual work. On a recent Tuesday night, a crowd of other workers are hunched nearby with their phones, all furiously tapping and swiping to refresh a sparse page of job offers.

Someone should print off copies of Marxist propaganda in Spanish and put incorrect covers on them and go down posing as humanitarian workers handing out books on American culture or whatever and turn the place into a leftist hotbed.

Economic Distress Did Drive Trump’s Win
Contrary to the dominant media narrative, social issues like racism and sexism on their own can’t explain Trump’s success.

Bernie and Barbara: What’s Wrong With This Picture?
For starters, Barbara Lee did not support Bernie Sanders at the 2016 Democratic Convention. As a superdelegate, she cast her vote for Hillary Clinton. And she did that despite support for Bernie in the district she represents—California Congressional District 13—which includes Berkeley and Oakland. Bernie yard and window signs were more common than not in many D-13 neighborhoods, most of all in those two cities.

Barack Obama’s Great Tower of Nothing: Gentrification on a Presidential Level
In Chicago, a low but persistent rumbling is heard these days, especially on the South Side. It is Frederick Law Olmsted, America’s greatest landscape architect and the planner of what would become the city’s Jackson Park, turning in his grave and muttering Victorian imprecations against Barack Obama and his eponymous foundation.

Brazil: Why Did a Far-Right Demagogue Win the Election?
Bolsonaro's electoral victory is a setback for the working class. The task now is not to despair but rather to prepare for the battles to come. Bolsonaro won the second round of the Brazilian presidential election with 55 percent of the vote, defeating Haddad—the Workers’ Party (PT) candidate—who received 45 percent. Any hopes of a last-minute rally were dashed. This result is a setback for the working class and the poor. We need to understand what it means, what led to this situation and what strategy the workers’ movement should follow, faced with this reactionary government.

New York Times tries to shame “disillusioned young voters” into supporting the Democrats
In the run-up to the November 6 midterm elections, the efforts of major media outlets to convince people to vote for the Democrats are intensifying. The Democrats and their allies on Wall Street and within the national security establishment are desperate to drive up the turnout on Election Day, particularly among young people who are more likely to vote for Democratic candidates.

That's not addressing the issue, that's merely attacking the source, leading me to assume you cannot refute the content.

I don't. I'm sure that it's not just Israel and me that are opposed to how iran is governed - how human rights as we know them do not exist in countries that elected to sign up to the cairo declaration instead of the UN declaration…

…fucking 'zionist' ha ha ha
The quote layered over jeremy corbyn was not said by him, btw…

I'm not anything you'd label me as, i'm centrist af which means I get to laugh at all sides… thanks for the lols :D

Criticising the motivation of a source and bias behind it is perfectly valid: that is like historical source analysis 101. I am stating that said source has an interest in creating a narrative, and does so in a bias manner with few sources. Legit we learn this shit at GCSE.
The Iran deal has nothing to do with human rights, it has to do with nuclear non-proliferation.
There are two states pushing for the end of the deal, Israel and America: both of which have an imperialist interest in ending it. They know if they end it Iran will return to a nuclear programme, which will give them the justification to declare war. Don't try to make this about human rights, it is about geopolitics plain and simple.
wut?

Okay biased source, but facts are facts.
Did "Jelly" grow up in a manor house, and attend a preparatory school?
If not, explain.

…According to Rosa Prince, Corbyn's biographer, it was a 'thoroughly upper-middle-class, scruffy country upbringing'.

You might want to rummage through Rosa's bins before replying…

Oh, the quote was hitler's, hence my lols @ 'zionist', hahafuck…

What quote are you talking about? You're chatting nonsense mate.

Reasons why I should give a fuck if iran, israel, or any other regressive, religion-fuelled middle-eastern shithole gets all kinds of fuck nuked out of it, better still, all of them:

Mmm.. now that is a target rich environment for an armed force that has ballistic anti ship missiles.

I sure do hope so, US of A is in a desperate need of getting its face rubbed in its own piss, honestly. They do seem to be careful to only pick figths with third world countries that can't fight back, though.

Humans survived the last ice age.
Still?
Again?
…how many nuke tests, chernobyls, fukushimas have happened since nagasaki? Yes, the world is kinda fucked already…
Maybe 'nuked' was a bit strong, i'm prepared to meet you halfway at 'relentless carpet bombing'
We've already paid for the ordinance, it'd be costly and dangerous to store then until the expiration date and decommission them afterwards…

Yeah, fuck people for having the audacity to be born in a country where they've got a poor chance of proper education amirite?

why are you making this about Israel?

Reminder the US did those war games where Iran BTFO'ed a US landing force.

You mean to tell me that post-war Britain had a lot of young families that lived out in the country, who then moved back to London during the reconstruction? Knock me down with a feather.

Tut tut. what a posho.

…the property was purchased … seven years after the war ended. And the family wasn't escaping the blitz in leafy wiltshire…
Corbyn's mother was a maths teacher, and his father wasn't an electrician, but an expert electronics engineer…
And they met at a demo, how cute. You know who attends demos? People who don't have to go to work, the kind of people who can afford to send their children to Castle House Prepare-a-Tory school.

I just realised I erred, it was eleven years after the war, not seven.

Good. Lock up those liberal shitters and throw away the key.

This just might be his biggest fuck-up. Now Lula is a hair away from being considered a political prisoner everywhere outside of Brazil.

"Twenty-first century socialism" already failed before it started because it wasn't socialist, and so will this.

They did that during the campaign as well. All I could read was "why aren't you stupid shitlords voting for her?!"

These already exist, and they're inhabited by laid-off Americans.

Jesus jannies, it's just a joke.

Emmanuel Macron has called for the creation of a “true European army” to allow the EU defend itself from threats ranging from Donald Trump to Vladimir Putin.

“We have to protect ourselves with respect to China, Russia and even the United States of America,” Mr Macron told France’s Europe 1 radio in an interview.

“When I see President Trump announcing that he's quitting a major disarmament treaty which was formed after the 1980s euro-missile crisis that hit Europe, who is the main victim? Europe and its security.”

The French president continued: “We will not protect the Europeans unless we decide to have a true European army.

“We need a Europe which defends itself better alone, without just depending on the United States, in a more sovereign manner.”
