A lot of people, including to the left of now almost defunct Socialist Party (which as you may know and just like in all of Europe isn't really left), are still easily offended liberals that don't like his occasional outbursts, which are played back over and over out of context by the media. The media deeply, genuinely hate him, no matter their orientation, and his presentation is highly demonized. It's not like the US where you win the election by being brash.
