There is a big difference between not liking people coming in from other places which is because of Capitalism and Imperialism and being a Hitlerite. Mainland Europeans are Xenophobic as fuck, Bosnians are literally genetically different from everyone else because they kept to themselves and Serbians I knew hated the Hungarians in the North.
A lot of the Eastern European nations view World War 2 as a good thing but that really is because they are Xenophobic as fuck and thought that the Soviets were gonna rule over them. The Baltics that honor SS troops celebrate the day they kicked out the Germans and killed anyone that was left.

Maybe you could create a religion out of it. Like, every couple decades x amount of stuff must be sacrificed in order to prevent the world from ending. After a few generations people would forget it was all fabricated and thousands of years from now humans would be dutifully zooming around in spaceships looking for resources to waste.
