Okay. But let's say we do all of those things and take all the steps to alleviate these problems. at that point, why would reparations be necessary? It seems to me like proposing reparations is a way of disavowing real problems that affect every poor person in this country (and frankly problems endemic to capitalism). It's tunnel visioned. None of the problems facing the black community are there because they weren't given reparations.

And also I would like to point out America has wronged and destroyed so many lives, it's inappropriate to limit reparations to just African Americans - and at that point it would just be impossible. Haitians would be owed reparations for their occupation and the dictator America installed, Native Americans, every country in South America, the list is endless. We would never end if this is the route we want to go down.

The only parts of Europe that produced le epic cathedrals are those that lucked out into considerable Roman/Byzantine/Arab contact and heritage.
