Somebody explain this BS to me

Why do every fucking retard on the US want to move to San Francisco?

Like, I see so much videos about people complaining is too expensive, yet 100 person fight to outbid each other to afford a garbage detroit poverty home there.

Like, wtf.

It's like Yuropoors coming to America because "the streets are paved with gold."

Pathetic

Jobs.

Well, first remember that there are San Francisco natives who were born there and are being pushed out by gentrification. Also, most jobs are in big urban population centers all of which have these expensive housing problems.

But, yeah, part of it is that people want to live in some big, cool city on the west coast. What's even more baffling to me than San Francisco is all the people who want to live in LA. Yeah, you have Hollywood and some absurdly rich people, but for the average working dickhead it seems like just one big continuous shitty arid desert town that you practically have to live in prison conditions just to begin to be able to afford.

I'm staying in that city for a few days while on my way to Hawaii… I'll tell ya how it is, but I'm not looking forward to it. I might step on a fucking heroine needle.

just don't walk on the beach barefoot, druggies love beaches for some reason. Wear sandals.

they think they'e going to be the next bill gates, mark zuckerberg, jeff bezos

While there is a lot of capitalist boomer shit going on, a lot of people aren't smart about it. I moved from Texas to Seattle suburbs and found 1 bedroom apartments under $1300. Funnily enough my wage nearly doubled so despite the increase in cost of living, I'm actually ahead financially. There are people who are living in their cars because they have to live in the city proper and refuse to just live 30 minutes away; just being in the same zipcode as the city ups the rent by $300-400. I know San Fran traffic is infamous, but taking a lesser paying job that doesn't involve a 2 hour commute to the most expensive city on the planet is a smarter move, there's nothing in San Fran you can't get anywhere else.

oh jesus it's already in the 70's and it's only march, I thought the north was supposed to be cold. there's no air conditioning here and I've already spent the winter acclimating. plz send help

Ironically for you this is also, exactly how Hawaii is.

Mmmm don't we all want full-blown gaids?

Silicon valley in in SF

Who the fuck cares why people wanna live somewhere.

who the fuck is thinking this? Ppl I know think of the US more like a second-world country and I mean it is for the larger part of the population

I just want better weather that's all, s-shut up

is San Fran still a thing? I thought it was all LA now

no they dont, people there all want to leave
just check anyone who ever has remotely done business there (yes porkys too)

I'd rather stay in rural buttfuck nowhere in the bible belt than deal with any west coast shithole.

Not everyone wants to go to SF, some go to LA others to NY. The only reason why I'm here is because thats where my school is.

People in the Southern states want to move out West because it is a lot better than this shit hole and the West is where people "make it." Living in the South is starting to get expensive now too because all the yuppies and yanks realized its way cheaper to live here. Gentrification is bad everywhere, it is literally a feature neoliberal capitalism

My state is overrun with northerners from New York and new Jersey. It wouldn't be so bad if they brought their liberal politics with them but most are just well off reactionary fucks looking to live on the (relative) cheap.

I live in what used to be a small sized town near one of the bigger cities in the south. It transformed from a historic town surrounded by trees dotted with homes to CarpetBaggerville. They brought all their shitty country clubs and golf courses with them. I recall some yankee recently trying to say the name of a local restaurant with a Spanish accent because they thought it was Mexican food when it was Cajun.

...

visiting so-cal right now, from the east coast, i can only say that the weather/climate, people, way of life is far better than the disgustingly cramped northeast suburbs, AND it's better than rural life which just drains you.

How's the midwest these days? I live in the south and I feel like I need a move to somewhere more developed without the outrageous expense of the coasts. I was entertaining living somewhere like Chicago or the Twin Cities. I can handle the cold

I've been seeing rent skyrocket in Atlanta and Birmingham. Rent is still low in smaller cities, but I don't know how long that will last.

This makes me wonder if socialists will be stuck to organizing primarily in rural areas and small cities in the future.

We Western Interior Seaway now again

The Soviets were right to limit mobility.

Fuck off you spooked faggot

Why would anyone want to live in America?

I would like to leave, but I can't afford to move it and without a college degree I doubt I could get a work visa anywhere.

...

die drowning in your father's rancid diaper you stupid fuck

Don't go to Illinois. They're about to have almost total collapse due to their totally fucked budget and I don't think the feds are going to bail them out

People who move from California to Texas are usually reactionary retards who genuinely think the Texas legislature aren’t a pack of retarded people passing the worst laws in the country.

Out of state people were more likely to vote for Cruz than native Texans, at least in Houston.

San Francisco is the culturally dominant city and california the culturally dominant region in the internet age. Welcome to the Californian Ideology.
Whether this is by design or by accident as companies inadvertently sell the image of California specifically as an individualist heaven on earth alongside their products*, I do not know, but it is a fascinating development.

*Designed by Apple in California. :)

fuck off, Zig Forums

Used to be true a few decades/centuries ago. Also
hah

imo San Francisco is one of the few big cities in California with soul. Most likely because it's also one of the oldest. This is in stark contrast with LA, which is financially and culturally important, but is also a soul sucking husk of strip malls, garbage, ugly architecture, broken or dilapidated everything, suffocating sprawl, etc.

At this point it's probably important for being important, but I can see that is the initial kickoff.

Was. Most artsy people left and the remaining are barely making it but still can live there, thanks to the rent control policies.

Nowadays the soul was replaced with a transhumanist libertarian Soylent-drinking techbro who's working 80hr/week in a startup that is going to "change the world" by automating some mundane aspect of consumerist life.

St. Louis here. I don't care for the weather and the city is insanely segregated but if you have an ok job it's very affordable.

Boils down to being aesthetically pleasing and having decent weather.

sf is worth living in for the weather alone if you want me to honest with you

Because jobs in SF can have really high salaries. However most people who move their end up getting jack shit. It’s conferring to know though that SF is less than 1% of America’s population.

That’ll make it easy to Siege out the megacities. Also rural areas are massively overrepresented politically because of the electoral collage.

In Detroit you can buy a house for less that 1 grand.

Most people moving to America come from Latin America, which has all the problems America has, but it’s also the third world. And people born in America are so nationalist that they rarely emigrate. No one from Europe moves here.

It's the jobs, no need to romanticize it.
