This is my most recent gun: a Colt King Cobra with a 6 inch barrel.
I didn't buy it, but inherited it from my grandfather who recently passed away.
I intend to keep it as my mountain camping gun.
I literally just got home with it, and intend to clean it and oil it. I don't have any other 357 guns so I'll need to go buy some food for it on payday.

I definitely wouldn't take a $1200-$2000 gun that is out of production as my mountain camping gun. by all means shoot it as often as you please, but get something less valuable and less likely to increase in value for your work gun.
That's a really fair point. He used it as his camping gun so I intended to do the same, though I had not really put much thought into the value of the thing.
It is extremely expensive. Not shooting it should be a crime. Treat it nicely or I'll fucking find you.
t. one of the bigger revolverfags on here that wishes he had something that expensive
treating guns as investments is gay and one of the reasons why we can't have full-auto anymore.
Carry that .357, shoot it, camp with it, don't let it rot in a safe.
Honestly I wouldn't rely on it simply on the basis that Colts are fragile bastards and it's likely that nobody alive today is qualified to do any sort of work on any of the snakes if they suffer parts breakage.
Sell the thing. You'll probably get $1600 minimum for it.
$800-ish will get you a S&W 629 6" in .44 mag
That $800 you'll have left over will probably earn more in an index fund than it would have as a gun.
Fine, use the $800 left over to buy a SECOND gun of your choice. Now you have TWO guns for the price of none.
...
Even if I thought that was a good idea, I'm pretty sure everyone else in my family would hunt me down and lynch me if I did that.
Regardless of anything else, I will definitely be taking it to the range next time I go, don't worry about that.
