How to slowly but surely change myself?

Go into a forest with 0 human interaction, pray constantly until you starve to death

The only true answer

Literally only good answer. Disregard all the holier-than-thou wannabe-saints telling you to never eat and pray constantly.

All you need:

This is some of the worst advice I heard in relation to practical improvements. This might work for someone who is seeking to "experience grace" or "get closer to God" or "improve their humility" or some such notions…But when it comes to tangible improvements you need to put effort, daily, you need discipline, you need to have some confidence in yourself and that isn't idolatry you weirdos, that's just common sense.

I had an urge to buy food for some homeless persons I saw from the train this morning…
But I was afraid to be charitable in public, to stand out, so I resisted and didn't do it in the end…
I feel shameful about it, and I have no excuses.

15 minutes of prayer a day and 30minutes of spiritual reading.
Find out your biggest defect and tackle it first. You'll find a lot of the smaller ones disappear after.
For example, say you have anger and sexual immorality issues but you find out your biggest issue is you have no willingness to suffer, you become willing to suffer those two issues go away or are greatly reduced.

Don't be user. Even heathens are charitable at times. You won't stand out or make a spectacle of yourself, or be like the hypocrites who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and corners of the streets, that they may seen by man.

Hey, I'm all for nofap, noporn, fasting exercising, eating healthy and all other types of self-improvement and I try my best to do all those things. But I don't fool myself for a second into thinking doing these things would be even possible without God's grace. And chanting dead prayers and not eating for a week in order to appear holy to others does nothing.

Yeah, I would add to this and say that exercising willpower is like a muscle, you need to train it and develop it over time. Part of the reason why the Bible says faith without works is dead. Be persistent!

How exactly is that "showing off"?. I get that you're a protty and you don't do that stuff but there's no need to be so insulting towards those that do.
