If you're a Protestant (I count all non Catholic/Orthodox as Protestant) , then your church is built of the primacy of scripture. Even liberal Christians who believe in the primacy of scripture do it based off of attempting to warp what it says with context.

Why did your dad make a relatively normal child only to make you learn to walk, talk, read, write, do math, and other hard stuff? God gives us challenges so that we can overcome them and become stronger. It's through fighting your way through pain and suffering that you become what you were truly meant to be.
