1 Corinthians 13:12

But when I grew up, I put away childish things.

I think God broke my Smash controller. Now I have more time to dwell on not having a gf, which He probably wants me to get because He keeps giving me visions of holding, stroking, and biting one and not even the sin of fapping makes the visions stop.

Are you me?

OP you are suffering from too deep an immersion in ennui if the only things filling your time are vidya and masturbation. There is a reason why faithful men of ancient Rome went off to the desert to pray, if you catch my meaning.
Are you near any parks or beaches? Can you safely go for a long walk or a drive? Evacuate your bedroom user, before madness creeps into your head there. Better still, find out where the nearest church featuring 24-hour adoration is. Enlist supernatural reinforcement from our Lord.
Bonus if you find yourself doing it often they may ask you to volunteer to take over a regular shift there, and voila, >tfw suddenly a valued member of a church community

When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up. - CS Lewis (Author of Mere Christianity)

If you're thinking about biting a woman, it should be a wife, not a gf.

Except image boards, obviously.

Yawn! This ole canard again. Come back when you have something new to show us instead of a decontextualized, deconstructed verse that doesn't even have to do with natural maturity.

Well that verse only applies to the Xbox one. the Nintendo Switch is totally ok

Funny thing is the switch fornite bundle technically a better deal. You get 10K in game curreny and multiple items. Xbox one bundle is one character and pick axe skin.

How do would you solve this problem Zig Forums? I'm surprised we haven't seen any Fortnite-style sermons yet.

Don't quote that man as though his words are some kind of answer to scripture. That's by far the worst thing I've seen here in a long time and that's saying something.

I've pretty much quit vidya. Unless I'm hanging out with friends and we're playing a game I don't play video games. Part of that is because I don't have much time, but I also just feel like it's a waste of my free time. I'd rather read a good book, lift weights, or just anything more productive than grinding away for virtual satisfaction.

Childish things are all I've ever known.

Except that its about faith. Why do protestards love to rip off verses out of context?

*Airhorn*

You know, sports used to only be for kids.

Gay word for kids

H,,,Hey, Battlefield1's still cool. R…Right guys?

The amount of influence something like that could have over children is what's really scary. Parents need to actually raise their kids.

...

You must be a joy to be around.

And said: Amen I say to you, unless you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

That quote didn't age well now that we're in the age of the soyboy.

Yeah that verse isn't telling Christians to follow God as if you are his child. What it's really saying is adults should run around hitting each other with hulk hands and guzzling down copious amounts of sugary drinks.

Have you even read Lewis' article where he says that? If anything he'd be firmly against vidya considering and all the other scores of /v/irgins who won't shut up about how video games and anime warped their upbringing.

I have and more so and the context plus the whole article is a stronger affirmation of that quotation's message than the quotation itself.
But not because of the stupid misuse of 1 Corinthians 13:11 a la OP. He would be against because he would think the medium is not conducive to a good intellectual life, no matter who the medium's audience is intended. In fact, in the book which contains the essay "On Children's Stories", his main essay criticizes movies for the same reason. His argument is similar to Niel Postman in that regard.

I'd suspect Lewis would be fine with the tabletop games because they involve slow, careful thinking and imagination, and the use of words versus pure visuals.

Only a few /v/tards spasm about that, and most are not Christian, so their ability to self-diagnose their spiritual problems is suspect. They more likely were never taught how to be discerning with media by a Christian teacher or parent.

He was talking about reading fairy tales. What are video games except for interactive fairy tales?

Okay, so when decontextualize, he's sinning; but when OP does it, then we need to shut up and throw away anything that some random preacher calls "childish". Hmm? There was a parable about this. Something about a log and a speck, I think?

Fairy tales are legacy from the past with hidden truths within and part of one's heritage.
Video games are a product of late capitalism that takes people away from themselves and give them a culture forged by the market.
Look at the recent Bowsette shit. It's the result of an entire generation raised with Nintendo and porn.

People don't know their folklore anymore but they know winnie the pooh mario

I can't dispute OP's claim. Video games could very well be childish, but I can dispute the other guy's misuse of scripture.

Matthew 18:3
:^)

What is the difference between going to a theater play, reading a book, or playing a video game or board game? They are all for entertainment and evading reality for a while. Playing a game like Europa Universalis IV will be more intellectual than reading a book like Twilight.
I personally think we should give priority to things like family, cooking, learning, spending time outdoors or exercising. But if you have some time to play a game and you enjoy it, go ahead and do it. The best thing would be to play them with friends or family.

Yes, just like getting sick #headshots in call of duty.

Why not take a nap or read something useful? Or learn an instrument or just draw, or pray or dig a hole outside?

what about gladiatorial battles in ancient rome?

As I said, some books are useful and others are worse than playing a game.
This mindset is a bit dangerous. In the end after 8 hours of work you are pretty tired mentally. They even say we can only do 4 hours of deep work. I've tried what you said but it just doesn't work, it's too stressful to be always thinking 'oh, I should be doing something useful'.

I do believe, if there are morals and a lesson to be learnt, then it’s art; it it brings good and true emotions, then it’s art. If it’s good art, it can be consumed/enjoyed in moderation. I’m a guy who has a couple of beers with his friends but never gets drunk, some pleasures are acceptable if done in moderation and in the right way.

Destroying kids in fortnite is fun

It's too stressful to take a nap or read a book or draw or listen to Beethoven? Lol

No, but reading Aristotle after writing code for 8 hours, cooking, and playing with the kids, can be

I don’t know if you can call Fortnite “childish” when you kill people in it

You're right. It's infantile, pic related

>LOOK, MA, I POSTED IT AGAIN!!!

Stop abusing scripture. That is NOT what the verse refers to. Read the context.
Stop parroting the Bishop of Tempe.

And you sound just as sanctimonious

...

Try not doing that. Nobody's beyond improvement. You can get a gf if you work on yourself enough.

The family that slays together, stays together!

Don't sow false hope

False Christians like protestants can't understand His word because they are not His sheep, just larpers.
