I'm actually in the same boat as OP. I LOVED technology growing up, and seeing the explosion of tech in the 90s and early 00s was amazing. It was like another space race.
Everyone involved with tech was doing it because they loved it. People in their garages just soldering shit together, coding day and night, working for something they were passionate about.
But now.... now it's all changed. Now it isn't about passion. It isn't about doing what you love. It's all about pandering to whatever bullshit faggot demographic is complaining the loudest. The tech isn't "by us for us," it's "by them for no one."
My whole life is tech. I grew up with it. It molded me into the person I am today and my entire career, but I can't fucking stand all this facebook, twitter, snapchat bullshit. It's not that I don't understand, it's that I loathe it.
I hate that no one understands it.
I hate that everyone complains about it.
I hate that worthless cunts control things containing large amounts of data and twist it to fit their way of thinking instead of telling the truth.
I hate that the strides technology has made is treated so poorly by the masses.
I hate that media has turned into a 24 hour cycle of shit.
I hate that there is such a wealth of information out there to consume, but the masses use it to post pictures of their dicks and tits.

In the past when you bought a computer or software you bought a product. Sure, there was usually a catalogue included with other stuff you could buy, but that was just some harmless extra you could ignore (I actually quite like looking at old software catalogues that came with games).
Today when you buy something, or more likely today when you sign up for something the product is secondary, it's only a carrier for the advertising to buy even more shit. Bought a new game? Buy our DLC, season pass and lootcrates. Bought a new phone? Sign up for our services, buy more apps, use apps with ads that want you to buy other shit. Buy shit inside the apps. Bought a new PC? Sign up for a Microsoft account. Buy Minecraft and Candy Crush. Bought some software? Buy our cloud service, pay monthly fees, you own nothing goy.
