Interesting how that one book he wrote close to 40 years ago seems to become a topic of interest every time there's a republican in office.
I do actually believe the ☭TANKIE☭ conspiracy theory that he's crypto-fash. He thinks that Hitler was the most radical politician of the 20th century and the left has been unable to properly deal with his legacy, that mein kampf is a "rip-roaring read", reps NOI, argues that Taiwanese peasant support for the KMT prove the radical roots of fascism etc.
He also quotes Khrushchev to own Stalin and the settler-tards of the interwar/WWII CPUSA.
I think he's a bad historian on top of all that. His proof that there never really was a white proletariat is that the US had higher wages and better working conditions than much of Europe in the 19th century but even Argentina and Brazil had higher wages than Spain and Italy believe it or not.
But there are many, many other mistakes and mischaracterizations in that book.
Not everyone may know this but the MTW and the "read Settlers" meme really started with MIM which was formed at Harvard in 1980. Their founder was a self-admitted associate of Barrack Obama who taught sociology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He pretty much embarrassed the party by namedropping former comrades on his blog and claiming that he was the victim of a "lynching" due to multiple rape allegations against him. He accused Barrack Obama of orchestrating this plot against him but never really explained what Obama's motive was beyond some kind of intimation that he may have sabotaged his reformist campaign. Pretty spooky stuff.
Was Henry Park a real person? It seems so, his academic work was actually published in the 80s and his blog seems too crazy to be a 100% CIA-job. That being said, I've only been able to find one picture alleged to be him and almost nothing verifying that he actually died. Pretty odd for a man who hangs out with future US presidents and crafts the revolutionary ideology of the 21st century.
Some pretty strong evidence has been provided here that LLCO, or at the very least their former leader, are COINTELPRO. Since the LLCO came out of MIM I think its worth considering whether it was also a former police operation.
I think it should be noted that while Sakai still has quite a bit of currency in TWist there's a difference between Sakai's position (no white proletariat) and TWism (no 1st world proletariat at all, of whatever skin color)

"Settler-colonialism" is a very important concept. It helps to explain why Israel and America have such strangely similiar domestic political mileaus. It also helps us understand why american "proles" are so very much behind their western european counterparts with respect to their political consciousness. However Sakai himself is/was a fucking tard. Ethnonationalism is a dead end for leftism. Also black and chinese americans (to name a few significant non-white ethnicities in the US) were intimately involved in american internal-colonization. Thus the idea that all non-whites in the new world are somehow on the same side is laughable.

Was it Aaron J. Leonard? He had a pretty good book called "Heavy Radicals: The FBI's Secret War on America's Maoists" where he details that Feds would try to make an anti-revisionist line look like a revisionist line so that people would get into pointless fighting and purity spiraling. Feds literally had children and got married to people they met in the activist scene.
Of course, Douglas Lain, as always, comes in with the worst take possible on that book. He argued that McCarthyism and Maoist paranoia about the G-man stem from the same root a la Zizek's "even if its true a jealous husband is pathological" but Leonard's argument was not that suspicion undid the Maoist scene but that infiltration and subversion did far more damage than is typically assumed.
