DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE'S OTTOMAN REPUBLIC

I made the (pic related) shit post to rile up Zig Forums, but would a new socialist republic along the Mediterranean be possible, to offset the rising right wing nationalism in Europe?

It would be vaguely Neo-Ottoman in character, but it would unite the peoples of the Middle East, Southern Europe, and North Africa in a sort of federated socialist/communalist system - basically, self-managed communities, united only in preserving a cohesive trade system, partially militaristically. The idea is, they would feel some commonality through a common cultural history shared between different groups.

And yes, I realize this idea is much closer to fiction than reality.

Also, please excuse a couple vulgar, nasty terms I used in the pic - it was meant to resonate with them

Eww

lol fair point - I was just playing with words there tbh

You know this is just LARPing right? Designing theoretical countries is fun and all but dont pretend like that's how real life works. Trying to force a conceptual nation-state into being is pure idealism.

Yeah. It would need the future to go in a very particular way - a particularly bad way, in which the extreme nationalists get their way, and I'm pretty sure that isn't going to happen. However, I'm enjoying fleshing out this idea.

At best, you could maybe build some small life-stylist commune of a few hundred individuals, bunker down, and create some semblance of a community together. Such a commune would have absolutely no revolutionary potential because it would be isolated from the masses. Everyone in the commune would basically be admitting that capitalism is unbeatable, and all we can do is hide until it destroys itself. I can see that idea being an attractive escapist fantasy to doomers, but I couldn't help but think of anyone who does this a coward.

You're missing the empire part of it. The point is, it would actually have a fairly militaristic character in taking over the Mediterranean region. But once it's taken over the area, ideally with the help of the local communities it would promise power to, then it would allow the communities it unites to largely manage themselves and their own labor, united in the common cause of maintaining the empire. There's nothing isolationist or escapist about it.

In fact, this model is loosely based on the anarcho-syndicalist idea that you would have communities running things democratically, then working together to resolve issues democratically between each other. Only, of course, this version wouldn't be anarchistic.

would never work again, everyone in the balkans and the middle east hates t*urks

Would it be similar to pic related?
I actually like the Ottomans, they weren't such a bad empire. I wish they could have persisted. It truly is unfortunate that the t*rks are the ones trying to represent the greatness of sultan abdulmejid and other great sultans.

I agree. The Ottoman Empire has a pretty incredible history, and I think that Bektashi Sufism might be the most interesting branch of Islam I've encountered. I also have heritage from the Caucuses, West Asia, Eastern Europe, and Western Europe, so on a selfish personal level, I feel I can identify with it somewhat. However, I'm pretty disgusted by Erdogan, and (and I know people are split on this) I am rather sympathetic to the one big US military base in Syria. I visited Turkey not too long ago, and there's a lot of the culture that's beautiful, but my experiences with the people were very polarized - some people were really nice, but I had an unusual number of bad encounters, and I've been to and lived in much rougher parts of the world.

also note that "one big US military bas in Syria" is a filter result for that Kurdish communalist experiment that's fighting ISIS and facing attacks from Turkey right now.

is this code for another armenian genocide?

oh wow they changed the word filter

No! That was honestly just something I said to piss Zig Forums off. I actually think the world should pay a lot more attention to the Armenian genocide, because it's obvious that the Holocaust was modeled after it. They were literally loading Armenians in cargo trains and sending them to their deaths in the Saudi desert, shooting the men. Hitler even has a quote trying to justify the Holocaust, by mentioning that "nobody talks about what happened to the Armenians," or something to that effect. I think the denial of that genocide is one of the most disgusting things about Turkish policy, and it's probably me not understanding their politics well enough, but I don't fully understand why they don't just admit to it. I also actually don't understand why Jews don't make a bigger point about it, in part because of its connection to the Holocaust, and in part because as a religious minority, I imagine that jihad probably targeted them too, albeit on a vastly smaller scale - my only guess is that Jews aren't educated about it enough. Note that the German military helped the Turks conduct that genocide, and learned from it.

So why wouldn't NATO just kill everyone?

That's certainly something to think about, but it's also an obstacle every socialist society needs to consider at this point.

Tupac Ameru Revolutionary Movement bitchass

They tried, and failed. As almost all the foquistas movements. And now Polay is in the Naval Base of Callao with Guzman and Montesinos.

Irrelevant, the point of that post was that you can have the name of a monarch in your socialist organization and retain its socialist character. If the EFF in South Africa changed their name to the Shaka Zulu Liberation Front the character of their politics would be the same.

Tru,but not everyday someone talks about the MRTA. I never knew that existed a Shaka Zulu Liberation front, what a good name!!

The reason MRTA isn't really discussed imo is because they're basically another tragic story about Foco theory failing outside of Cuba, the Shining Path have left more and longer lasting scars on the Peruvian state and are credited with the development of modern Maoist theory

Yeah incredibly discussing.

user, will you associate the Armenian Genocide with sultan Abdulmejid? He was so based that he embarrassed the queen of england by offering £10,000 to the irish during the great famine. The Ottoman empire was the first victim of anglo imperialism in the region, in fact. Galipolli ring any bells?

Thank you.

To you, read the thread. I already made a long post about this:

Turks are literal subhumans

Nazis shouldn't be alive.

Who cares about T*rks? Ottomans =/= T*rks.

Die screaming kike

This is like saying Americans are white Puritans from England

Americans are not* white Puritans from England

People who like the Ottomans want nothing to do with T*rks.

You're a moron with nothing valuable to contribute. kys
