Rand was not only bigot and stupid to almost unbelievable degrees, but also really ugly and furthered her appalling appearance with bizarre hats and stuff
AynRandSandwich
She uncannily resembles Anne Applebaum
This should be played every time borg politician gets up to make a speech, tbh
I think reading Atlas Shrugged is actually a good thing because even from a narrative/technical standpoint alone, seeing every single possible mistake you could make in writing all packed into one book makes it a lot easier to recognize and appreciate actually well-written books.
they did the malcolm in the middle intro song, right?
Objectivism advocates laissez-faire aynclap "economics" for reasons entirely unrelated to material self-interest. The idea is that the human experience is fundamentally about the ego, and that narcissism is therefore rational and should be pursued as thoroughly as possible. Rand even goes as far as to insinuate that material interests should be sacrificed in this pursuit if necessary. This is why the characters of her books have seemingly nonsensical motivations by a mentally normal person's standards. She literally believed that being a self-absorbed pissant was virtuous, and therefore made anything they chose to do inherently more moral than whatever the EVIL ALTRUISTS were doing.
Honestly, Rand's books should be mandatory reading. Exposure to her works as a teenager is what made me an ardent leftist. Her writing is so shit that it's almost funny, it's like a look into the mind of what lolberts actually believe. I wish I was joking when I say that BioShock, a fucking shootan gaem, is a fairly accurate and effective critique of her ideas.
Yeah, that was them
The important thing to know about Ayn Rand is two things she basically pioneered.
First, she basically created American conservative/lolbert populism by flipping Marxism on its head. You should remember that Rand was educated in the Soviet Union (and ironically, if the Bolsheviks hadn’t come to power and opened universities to women, she likely would never have gotten an education) and much of her ideology borrows from Marxist themes. She still puts forward the concept of a productive class being oppressed and exploited by an idle political class, but rather than this being the proletariat and the bourgeoisie, it was the heroic entrepreneur against the government, church, socialists, unions, degenerate masses and other “collectivists” who supposedly run society. This has largely served as the foundation of American-style right-wing populism ever since.
Secondly, she created a sort of auteur theory in the socio-economic realm, where the CEO is not merely the leader of the business as an organization, but the enterprise is an extension of his personality, the earthly manifestation of his great being. A sort of absolute monarchist ideology for capitalists, l’entreprise, c’est moi! This is an ideology that a far greater section of the population has adhered to. I’ve even seen seen this shit subtly peddled out in children’s films. It’s what allowed the creation of the Cult of the Entrepreneur that had people worshipping Elon Musk and Steve Jobs before him.
hey retard, stirner was referring to state-granted fiefs when he used 'property', not ownership in general. There is no distinction between ownership of capital and ownership of labor except through your own personal fetishes.
Moreover, socialism is inherently collectivist. The individual must be prohibited from owning capital for his own sake, in order to worship the 'god' of egalitarianism.
Stirner decried capitalism you moron, fucking read him.
