At some point somebody realized that people in bubbles will swallow whatever bullshit their prophets tellem, and that therefore if you wanna sneak something by unopposed you have the unorthodox side do it. That way the subservient masses swallow it while the normally opposed masses see nothing wrong with it.
Look at Obama being a bigger war hawk than Bush.
