Bashar Al-Assad

His dad was more a politically minded animal. He was strictly Baathist, and sought for a Pan-Arab/United States of Middle East kind of vision. This put him at odds with other "world order" types like Kissinger. And both got their hands disgustingly bloody in fighting each other via proxies.
Young Assad didn't even expect or want the job (he had a favored older brother who died and it fell on him).

I send money to Christians in Islamic Countries and even if Catholic I don’t like most of the hierarchy but obey them due to God’s orders. I’m a bitter person who is able to have his own limited yet autonomous views

Could be because in that case it was Catholics who were affected specifically since Hafez caught a lot of flak for attacking Lebanese forces who were aligned with JEWTO against all the Muslim groups.
It just looks like another case of manipulation by international powers in their efforts for geopolitical control.
It was during the Cold War and some friends have become enemies since then.

Even if it were true it still doesn't have much bearing on actual politics since he is supported by the still largely ex-Soviet influenced Russian government and Ba'athism is still a nominally socialist ideology.

At the end of the day every group operating there is just one big crime family/syndicate after another.

—In areas controlled by the Islamic State, Casana found around 21.4 percent of the sites showed some evidence of looting. Remarkably, this was lower than in areas controlled by opposition forces (26.6 percent) or by the YPG (27.6 percent). The lowest percentage of sites looted could be found in areas controlled by the Syrian regime, where around 16.5 percent appeared damaged by looting.

Same here (charities that is.. not to toot my own horn or anything. I just highly urge all of us to do it).

The reason we aligned with Israel is because it was either that or die. No other country was willing to help us. We were outnumbered. We were out of ammunition, weapons, and all the surrounding countries wanted to see us dead. We say this and we will continue to say it whenever someone brings this up: We would've even made a deal with the devil to ensure our existence.
I don't care that we allied with Israel. We wanted to survive, and we did whatever we could to do so.

I can can imagine. Unfortunately the desire to do things for good isn't necessarily enough to ensure it, like with all those who have succumbed to destroying or looting heritage, among other destructive endeavors, to fund each others' destruction to give themselves a chance from not being utterly annihilated
