It's my families I care about. I'm making them suffer in many many ways and it's not good
You think to little of them. You think they care more about their own personal happiness then the life of their own flesh and blood. If you truly care about their happiness, then ask them what will make them happy, or if their even sad to begin with.

Not that user but why doesn't God take away the pain? It seems so unfair that some reprobate can live a life of debauchery for decades, repent at the last minute and go to heaven while I have given my all and refrained from sin as best I can and yet I may end up killing myself in my misery and go to hell. Obviously I know I am guilty of the same sin as the said reprobate but it's so hard to be calling out to God amidst suffering He refuses to end and then be punished when the weight of the misery overwhelms my capacity to handle it. I'm a week into med-school and the only future I can fathom that doesn't involve my eventual suicide is to become a monk in some rural monastery; however, I am not involved in a cathodox church and would have no idea how to become a monk. Is this worth pursuing? Any advice is appreciated.

Definitely begome, but be warned becomming a monk will only challenge you even more than what you are going through now. On top of the increased spiritual warfare you will experience demons love to harass holy men you would also be expected to perform medical tasks due to your experience in the medical field. If you are up for it and can brave the minions of the evil one, than please, begome. But please do your due diligence and learn from the experiences of other monks before you fully commit yourself to God.
