Solomon's Temple was literally the most ornate and opulent building in the Levant. If God wasn't concerned with these things He would've had them stick the commandments in a wooden box instead of the Ark made of gold and decorated with Cherubim.

God's pretty explicit about Temple worship; the Temple itself is a work of exquisite beauty, and so much more the Ark.
God Himself gave us very specific instructions on how opulent it was all to be. I also do not recall Christ rebuking the Temple itself, just the men inside for being hypocrites.
